Yes, Make sure it has VHF (RTE 1 & 2). Most standard LCD and Plasma have it.

May not need VHF if your RTE channels are already of UHF.

Unless you are using Sky or UPC (NTL/Chorus) Digital, you'll need a dual tuner (UHF/VHF) to be certain of getting all channels.

I bought a UHF only TV in the UK over a year ago and needed to get a DVD Recorder with Irish tuner on board to get the analogue TV from NTL. There wasn't an option to set it to Ireland in the setup.

    DTT will be all UHF.

Analogue Cable is very poor. Use a Digital Sub and then VHF doesn't matter.

Some areas will have RTE1 & 2 in analogue on Band II VHF now till analogue close down The plan to go entirely UHF seems to be abandoned since we are changing to All UHF Digital.

Is that a mpeg4 or mpeg 2 Dig tuner ? I think its a mpeg2. And if thats the case I would be holding off for the mo, even if you are using a sky box. Be very aware that the "HD Ready" Logo means absolutely nothing!

By the way its 200 sterling cheaper elsewhere UK wise.

Could anyone recommend a 40" lcd with a mpeg4 tuner that doesn't go blury when sport is on ? I was in DID electric during the week and some LCD tv's looked terrible when they showed any sport.

There are not so much lcd screens with mpeg4 tuner on the market.
Maybe sony 40W3000, 40X3000 or 40X3500 is something for you.
