I was a for a half marathon gallop around that time but this race takes place on the bank holiday Monday which will not really suit anyone from the South, me included.

Pity that. They probably scored an own goal deciding to stage it that day.

There is no bank holiday in the south that day as far as I'm aware. Bank holiday in the south in May, is the 5th of May and another one again on the 2nd of June.

The 26th is a Monday is that a holiday in the north??

There is a marathon in Clare on the 24th of May a Saturday... Won't have to take a day off work for that.

Maybe Newry will learnt here lesson next year, could get a lot more people to take part . Me included.

    Barry.

I second Belcarra on his marathon review.
Excellently staged event. Well organised, great value for money.
I did the half and considering entry fee was €21 as I entered late (would entry fee is €18 up to Jann 1st) chip timing was used and actually worked, loads of drinks, t-shirt , medal, food afterwards adequate and even showers. Never mind the massage which I managed to get.

Makes a few similar events in the south look way overpriced.
Can only see this event getting stonger
And managed a PB by over 4 mins - low 1:27's.
