Weather Station Placement

    Hi All,
I have been reading here for quite a while and receintly gotten a
weather station of my own, its a WS-2300, I have a couple of questions
about its placement as I would like to place it correctly to make it as
accurate as possible, I have three separate units to place if anybody
has any thoughts on any of them I'd appreciate any input to help making
my decision (although placement may be influenced in the end in part by
    the other half)

    See attached image for locations

Wind Sensor - I thought the best place for this would be at the gable
end of the garage mounted on a poll, if the trees along side are higher
    I can trim them down.
Thermo-Hygro Transmitter - I think the visible wall of the garage would
be the best place as it is north facing (is this a correct assumption?), you
can see from the picture that this wall is in shade (picture taken about
9:40 this morning) and it remains like this all day, although it might get a
little sun first thing in the morning, I have to get up early some morning
    and find out.
Rain Sensor - I was hoping somewhere around A would be ok as I am trying to
not have it in the middle of nowhere but I am expecting to be told the B
would be a better location (or even further left).

I am hoping to get this done at the weekend if I have time, if I don't it will
be another 3 weeks before I get a chance but as soon as I do I have the software
part setup to upload data to a website.
    http://higginsd.x10hosting.com/wview/img/
Which is currently measuring the weather in the kitchen.

Please excuse the state of the lawn/meadow thats the next project :-), I am in
sligo by the way just in case anybody is wondering where this will be located

    Thanks for any help,
    Derek.

Hi Derek, as per the PM's, the best place for rain gauge would be in a more open space.
Placement of thermometer-Although in the shade, the garage would absorb heat during the day and therefore give off a little heat(false readings, buildings in general do this).

As the thermo is sheilded from solar radiation(housing), it is possible to place in the open where it can get a good source of airflow(its the temp of the air your measuring placed at 4feet above short grass)

Anemometer- If it is placed above treeline you should get optimum results. 33feet is the aviation height of recording wind but not always possible for people to place as such.

    Thanks Snowbie,

I assume so that if I were to place the thermometer in the grass it would
need to be on some class of wooden post as raising it up on blocks would
have the same problem as the garage with heat storage?

I have also noticed that the software I am using reports
the monthly rain as 1.52cm along the left hand side and 1.52mm on the
gauge in the info panel. I am using wview-3.7.3 does anybody know if I might
have configured something wrong, or is it buggy?
If it is buggy what software would be the best to run on a linux box.

My first stevenson screen was on a 5 foot wooden post dug 1 foot into the ground leaving 4 foot above grass and painted post white to reflect sunlight
