    Hi all,
I just bought a Canon Rebel XTI(aka400D).What i'd like to know is,am i aiming a bit too high if i want to purchase the Canon EF 70-200mm 70-200 f/2.8 f2.8 L IS lens? Would i be better off updating my camera body?I bought a Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC MACRO lens when i bought the camera body.I would be interested in doing sports phtography, especially cycle racing.I'm also going to New York this October so a visit to BH Photo will be a must.
All help would be greatly appreciated.:)

I just keep hitting that thanks button ...

Anyways, no. Investing in fantastic lenses like that will never be a bad move, you'll have them still by the time your on your 4th / 5th/ 6th DSLR body !

The 70-200mm f/2.8 is a brilliant lens. Well worth buying. It's spot on for sports, and will go well with the body you already have.

it's a great lens, but maybe a bit expensive seeing as you've just entered the dslr world. Having said that, if you have the money and the inclination, go for it. But it is damn expensive.

I bought the 70-200mm f2.8 with my first DSLR (400d) last December. No regrets I have to say. Also got the 1.4 extender. Its great for sports.

Well i think when you have a decent camera the best to upgrade its the lens, its true 400D its not top of the range but its pretty decent, so i would definitely would go for the lens...

    Hi lads,
Thank's very much for all the replys.I will definatly buy this lens when i get back to work.Just one other thing i'd like to ask is would i be hit for Tax at the front door if i buy from Kea-Photo?They have the lens in stock so no problem there.Or would i be better off to wait until i go to New York in October and buy it in BH Photo?
    Thank's very much inadvance,
    Ciaran...:)

We can't really talk about import duty avoidance. However I've ordered 3 items from Kea and no tax problems. 1D MKIII will be ordered in the next couple of weeks from them too.
