Buying from Hong Kong

    Hi, Im thinking of buying an item worth around €200 on ebay. The item location is Hong Kong. It tells me the postage cost but is there any other customs costs or anything that are likely to be added on at a later date?

    Duty at the rate applicable to the item and 21% vat, most likely.

    ive bought a few things from hk and never had to pay any duty, they usually mark it as a gift

    Just wondering if the cost would matter, Is it only cheaper things can be counted as a gift? I dont really know much about tax and duties :confused:
