Slightly off topic but to do with the XPS, does anyone know if Crysis will run on the XPS M1710?

    Components
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7400 (2.16 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2-cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium - English
Base Warranty - 1 Year XPS Premium Hardware Support (incl. Gaming and On-Site Support)
17.0" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT Display with TrueLife™
    2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
Hard Drive 250GB Serial ATA (5400RPM)
    512MB DDR3 nVidia® GeForce™ Go 7950 GTX graphics card
Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive including software - Vista
    9 cell Lithium-Ion Battery (80 Whr)

I've been getting conflicting reports, some people telling me it should others saying it wont... So I'm a bit confused as to what (if any) I should upgrade or go with, was thinking of just customizing a Sager to the specs however it's risky as I don't know how much I'll be charged in Vat.

On the spec you have listed, it will definitely run and at quite reasonable settings, anything who told you it wouldn't run knows absolutely nothing about computers - apart from the 8800 Mobility, the 7950GTX is the fastest mobile card.

You'll be charged 21%, standard vat rate. There can be an import duty (0-6%) on top of that, not sure what it is for computers if applicable. Novatech are a UK re-seller of Sager, no vat or extra charges there because it's coming from within the EU. So check those prices before you go ordering something from the States. The base 8800M-equipped Novatech starts at e1600 (no OS) and it will outperform anything with a 7950GTX by a huge margin.

It will run Crysis but not well, nothing can run it "well"

    With a 3ghz Core 2 Duo 2gigs of ram and an 8800gts 640mb I got around 20fps average on high @ 1680*1050

So aim for around 1280*800 with mid/high settings and it will run ok

I have a smiliar speced xps laptop to yours, except I have 1 gig of ram and im running xp,I brought crysis (I quickly gave it to my brother as i thought it sucked balls)and even though it was a bit stutery and would freeze every now and again in intense fire fights,it ran ok,It was probbly my ram that was holding it back :-/.So I dont think you should have too much trouble running it.

Haha I know that website but can't run it if I don't have the system to run it on..

Cheers everyone for the questions, think I'm going to go with it either this month or next depending on how the money situation is.

My laptop has a t7200, 2GBs ram and a 256MB 7900gs and I could run the crysis demo at medium @ 1440x900. You should be able to turn it up a notch or two. I think there was a patch that allowed the game to run better.
