Crosshaven relay

Last few weeks have noticed severe patterning on RTE1 (CH 55) from Crosshaven.
When it first appeared there was a bit of a lift on and I put it down to CCI from UK. (I did not bother checking channel lists trying to find the culprit.)
However it has persisted. Present in all directions from TX.
Nothing unusual showing on my spectrum analyzer, C/N remains very good (>40 db), no new spikes from the noise floor. Patterning visable before and after amplification.
175mhz from Mulliganish (feed for Crosshaven ) is perfect.
This has been going on too long. Who should I moan to at RTE?

It might be worth asking your neighbours first to see if they are getting it as well.

    Otherwise, try 1-850-584-584

Rippy is an installer, so I'm sure he has confirmed its not local to an area :)

If it was co-channel from a UK transmitter, one would expect interference on RTE2 and TG4 channels also as the same groups of 4 channels are usually used in the UK and Ireland (55,59,62,65, the 62 having never been used for TV3 at Crosshaven), so that can be ruled out.

Fixed now. Maybe someone at RTE network engineering read my post and rushed a team out to sort it . Or maybe not...

I spoke too soon , fix was only temporary. Will be getting on to RTE tomorrow.

yes noticed this too from Carrigaline, thought it might of been my own equipment but it seemed to clear up the other day. Didn't check yesterday or today as i only view terrestrial when i'm recording something off sky

Rippy, is it fixed now and did you find out what was wrong?

BTW a question regarding your general area, are SouthCoast after discontinuing their UHF retransmissions to northern areas of Passage West?
the transmitter they had for this area (which was on UHF channels 61,64,66 and 69) is not on now - and has been gone for several weeks according to someone I know in that area.

Seems to be OK the last few days. Strangely I noticed the exact same patterning on RTE1 off of the Kinsale relay on Friday evening. (Ch29 Horiz). I do not know for sure ,but I presume, this is also fed via VHF from Mulliganish.
Has anybody noticed it on any other Mulliganish relays?
As regards Passage West , you are correct that transmitter has been shut down. This TX is (was) located on the end of a barn at the top of Church Hill.
I have heard a rumour (unconfirmed) that the farmer pulled the plug himself due to a dispute with SCTV. I must hit PW with some FTA satellite flyers......
