So i got the dreaded 3 rings! Unfortunely i didnt keep receipts or even the box of the console. Now that i have to buy a new xbox i was wondering if i could buy the core xbox 360 and put the harddrive from my old one on to the new one?? and also you can play xbox live on the core system cant you?

    Thanks

You actually won't need the receipts or box to get it repaired, just the serial number on the back of the Xbox itself :)
But otherwise, yeah you can just put the hard-drive on another console (core or whatever) as far as I know. You may have trouble playing any arcade games you've purchased though - think they only play when you are online on a new console, but Im open to correction on that.

Theres a 3 year warantee on the 360 whether or not you have the receipt

Just call microsoft support and they will pick it up and repair it
