    hi

i was thinking of putting my name down for membership at the academy.just have a few questions.

    -is it worth the fee?
-what time does it close at?
-do they have floodlights at the short game area?
-does it be very busy in the evenings?

    thanks

I can answer some of these questions...

-is it worth the fee? I was also thinking of joining a couple of weeks back but decided against it when I saw how little a reduction you got on a bucket of balls. You'd want to be doing a lot if practice to make it worth your while.

-what time does it close at? 10pm I think during the Summer.

-do they have floodlights at the short game area? Not as far as I know.

-does it be very busy in the evenings? Yes, in the bays. The most I've seen using the short game area at the same time is 5 people, and it's plenty big enough to handle that amount of people.

I don't think so Ziggy, but I could be wrong. At least I didn't see it advertised.

If I recall correctly, Neil Manchip is charging €135 an hour, Francis Howley €120 p.h., David Mortimer €85 p.h., and another chap came in at €75 p.h.

Just reading in the Indo today that there were over 400 members out there last year.

Interesting piece actually, talks about how the GUI Academy ran at a loss last year and also details how the GUI's money gets spent.

One other interesting point was that memberships around ireland were flat last year but have dropped off considerably this year.
