I am not sure if this is right place where i can ask,if i am wrong i would like to get address of right place to send my question to.
Anyway,i have high school nursing diploma and now studying 3 years bachelor radiology(radiotherapy and rentgen diagnostics) and i am interested how are chances i get that diploma recognised in Ireland so i can work and does you university have some program master or something where is it possible to continue my education in radiology? And if anyone can help me how salaries in this sector are,is that better than maybe London which is my 2nd option, and if anyone can tell me about sharing or apartment costs, food, bus monthly,tv,phone and other monthly bills
As i saw maybe Dublin is better option than London and i heard Irish are way better as friends smile.gif

I am unable to answer your question but just bear in mind that in Ireland there is a big difference between a radiologist and a radiographer.

You may get a better response over in the Biology and Medicine Forum.

I work in medical recruitment for the HSE and I can post the salary scale here tomorrow when I get into work. I reckon you may need to get your qualifications validated by the Irish Institute of Radiography. Contact them for info on working here in Ireland.

And as i saw starting salary in Dublin is like 30 000 euros, and in London 20000 pounds or maybe even less.So which is better option? Is 30 000 good for Dublin?

Euro 30000 will give you a take home pay of approx 2200 per month.
you can use this calculator www.taxcalc.eu/
Is this good? This depends on your living expenses - especially rent/mortgage.
You could have a look here at rents http://www.daft.ie/

£20000, will net you £1290 per month - in euro 1633
    http://www.listentotaxman.com/#

    20,000 GBP = 25,300 Euro

One more question if someone knows,i am studying 3 years bachelor,as i got it you have same program but 4 years and its practicly 3 years streched into 4,is that true. And is it in UK also 3 or 4 years? And as i heard to get permision to work in USA you have to do plus 1 year on this bachelor so you can get american bachelor diploma evaluated,is it same for you?And how much the thing you do master in Ireland +2 years and than to try to go to USA changing thing with evaluating diploma, will they accept it easier than when you only have bachelor?

And what about cost living if someone share,is 1500 euros than enough monthly and rest to save for school example?

One more question if someone knows,I know Ireland,UK,USA have that option that radiographers can do a PhD....example thats different in in other countries, radiologists need to go to medical univercity and do a specialisation to be later after finished medical uni a radiologist. And i dont understand which title have than radiographer by you after finishing that PhD,coz i dont get it he can be same radiologist as a doctor who did medical uni,or maybe i am wrong and your school system is different

Ok my school is going very good so far and i hope to finish it and get diploma till June next year

I started slowly to prepare my self for going abroad and looking for a job so i have few options.First of all i would like to know the procedure, what would be my first steps and where to look for the job,who to contact at first and things like that.

I have few options but i wont bother you about other countries just for ireland.

So if you know any infos it would be nice

Is it true that i cant apply for a job in Ireland for radiographer if i dont have 2 years experience?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,041 ✭✭✭✭Wishbone Ash

It may be better to telephone one of the organisations related to your qualification. It's quite specialised and it is unlikely that many on the Dublin City Forum will have much knowledge about it.

I think I'll throw this over to Biology and Medicine as it's not really connected with Dublin City.

    Hey lads

Me again, now I am definitely collecting infos before I decide where and how to apply for a job and I need all the help you can provide me when it gets about Ireland
If I am right, first step to verificate my Serbian 3 years degree for radiographer is here
    http://www.iirrt.ie/index.php?option=com_c...=3&Itemid=7
But if I fill out all those papers and send them what are my real chances or possibilities to get a chance to work there or to get a job at first.I think theres a problem coz I don’t have any experience,I am fresh graduated.Lately my mates are applying for Norway coz its to easy to get the papers but I want to clear out the situation about Ireland before I start thinking about other options

Thanks in advance for any help

you may be able to work as a dosimetrist or therapeutic radiographer

    validation forms here: http://www.dohc.ie/public/foreignqualification/foreign_validation.html#therapists

you will also need to be a member of the Irish Institute of Radiographers and radiation Therapists: http://www.iirrt.ie/

Yeah i just posted link with forms in previous post, are you trying to say that i cant work as diagnostic radiographer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,816 ✭✭✭Vorsprung

The HSE (Health Service) aren't hiring new staff because of the economic conditions, but there are a few specialities that are exempt from this. Can't find the list now, but as far I can remember they are not hiring radiographers at the moment.

the country is flooded with diagnostic radiographers, you have a better chance of getting a job in therapeutic...

Ah so i supose the situation is not so great....:(

My advice would be to get the Dept. of Health and Children validation and the membership of the IIRRT, then move overseas to work in the interim while things are quiet here in Ireland. Experience from Norway is experience, it will count if you come back to Ireland when things are better...
