Faulty headphone socket on ipod

The headphones socket on my ipod has started to **** up a bit. The left channel only comes through unless I hold the headphones jack a certain way, so I think one of the springs in the socket are bent back.

Can I fix this myself or do I have to bring it somewhere? I've have it for 18 months so I won't get the warranty on it.
