    Hi,

I may be moving back home in the next 6 months. I have 5 years IT experience mainly in the IT Helpdesk environment. My current task is desktop support for a small law firm based here in the states. I have looked online on rte.ie and there does seem to be a few jobs in Galway that would suit me. Should i start applying now or just wait until sooner the move back. Are there many jobs in IT in galway or should i broaden my horizons to include Clare or Limerick.

    Hey,

I am currently looking for a similar role in the areas you mentioned and to be honest the pay is very poor and most of the roles are phone tech support roles

I did a year with broadband help desk support in 2005 in Dublin
man its bad in Ireland now for that work if you only speak one lingo

I did the English speaking end but all that work went to India and the new work was just bill paying issues help desk and the work pay conditions were even worse so I left

I could hack it with French as I lived in France for a few years but it wasnt worth the grief to strain my brain reviving my French for crap money and no future as that contract was due to stop after a year and go to French speaking Morocco

The sudden down turn in the economy especially house building and the USA dollor plummitting low teck help desk work exiting for cheaper climes like USA or Poland or India whatever means its not a good time to come back and best to come back with a job lined up ahead of time coupled with the death of the alley cat dressed up as a Tiger ;)
means the show is going through a bumpy ride:eek:
maybe even falling of the cliff:eek:
