Hi all decided to go unreg. for this, i am debating if i should go back on my anti depressants,
after christmas i was diagnosed with depression and prescribed a 10mg dosage of cipramil for 10 days and 20mg after that, i stuck with the 10mg for a month because honestly i wasnt too keen on medication, couldnt drink or anything, also the thought of being on medication aswell, that kind of stigma,
anywhoo had some surgery 2 weeks ago that i needed(circumcision a factor of the depression i believe) but since ive been off it i feel nearly like i did before even though im seeing a counsellor and i can speak to my parents and friends about it i still feel this unexplained depression and anger and im weighing up if is hould go back on the meds,
i know i probably should, but just venting because im on my easter hols and havmt seen my counsellor in 2 weeks, also having an awful lot of trouble sleeping,
    thanks for reading

Yes I think you should follow your doctor's advice and go back on antidepressants.

Most AD's you can have a drink with.

You shouldn't feel any stigma to being on medication. If you need medication then you need it. Its the same as taking medication for any illness be it diabetes or whatever.

I don't see how circumcision could be a factor of depression.

I wont comment explicitly on whether or not to go on ADs. ADs without adressing the issue is no help at all. If you know what the issue youre having is - fair play - go on ADs to help you combat the issue at hand if you want that extra support. But in my unprofessional, unsolicited opinion, ADs without looking for the problem, is just prolonging the inevitable: you'll eventually come off them having solved nothing and just get depressed again.

Again, personally, I'd keep seeing the counsellor. They can help you identify why you are getting angry, and that might be all you need.

Stay on the anti depressants until you feel ready to come off them. There is absolutely no point in feeling like crap when you simply dont need to.

It is imperative that you continue to see your counsellor - provided they are helping you. If not, go see another one.

You will successfully beat this depression if you use the meds in conjunction with your counsellor.

Ive been there - its a big pile of sh*te. But so worth it when you come out the other side. I wish you every bit of luck.
