Which was your favourite? Have been looking for a linky for the old surfer one (not the 1990s one, one before that in the 80s), but can't find it:(

I think I remember that one too.

All I can remember is the music and I think there was a woman (in a skimpy bikini naturally) taking a photo (or filming) the surfers..?

Here you go, folks. 45 seconds in. Classic ad alright (got to love that funky music! :D) and the one which inspired Christy Moore to sing about fellas trying to stay up on surfboards after 14 pints! ;):D

Speaking of classic Guinness ads, anyone remember some of those weird ones from the late 80's/early 90's starring Rutger Hauer. Here's one:

I knew it - the key to lodging ads in the minds of young lads is to put undressed women in them. :)

There's a Ballisto ad after the guinness(boarders and babe)on one of those u-tube.

    +1
Didn't this one make number 1 in a countdown of the greatest ads on channel 4 a couple years back?!?

No problem, Miss Fluff. Always happy to help out a damsel in distress! ;):D

I happened to stumble across that video a couple of months back when I was just aimlessly looking through YouTube at some old ads and stuff. Couldn't believe it when I saw it as I hadn't seen it in, oh, getting on for 20 years anyway but, like yourself, it was one of those Guinness ads that always stuck in my mind. So, when you asked for it, I did a bit of searching to try and re-locate that video again and after a while I managed to track it down again. Pretty hard to find, as you said, because most searching or Googling along the lines of "Guinness surfers" or "Guinness surf ad" or anything like that tends to throw up that newer one with the horses in the waves all the time.

I couldn't believe the Eric Idle/Murray Walker Metro ad in that bunch of clips as well. For a man long associated with Formula 1, you have to wonder what the hell Murray was doing advertising those rusty sh*theaps! And Eric Idle must have been very hard up for a few bob that day as well! :D

Ah yes, I remember that guinness one and the deodrant one. And the start one. I always think of the bit where he stands on the chair when I see them. Do they still have Start?

What about the one where they drop the inn out of guINNess which leaves you with Guess. The tagline being - drop "inn" for a you know what (Guess - [Guinness without the inn]).

Sorry don't have a link for it but I hope I've explained it properly. I always thought it was quite cleaver.

The one with the bird and the bloke fighting in the rain at a busstop. If anyone could give me the youtube link I'd be mighty grateful (had a look myself but couldn't find it).

I know the tune on that one is 'concrete and clay', (The concrete and the clay under my feet begins to crumble, but love will never die" etc etc) but I can't find the ad anywhere.

Time for Aidan to get on the case.... :)
