After reading on this site for so long I decided to sign up and ask a question. Heres my story in a nut shell

Built a extension and have a second sitting room
This room is for the kids and its called the the TV room (for me really)
17ft x 11ft and were the TV is going the wall is huge.

I've been looking at TVs for the last year and reading comments on this site for the same. Point is Im after getting a little confused about all the LCDs and plasmas out there.

So heres what i'm looking at this week (changes from week to week)
PHILIPS 52PFL7762 52" Full HD 1080P LCD TV 2500 yoyos
Now the reason i'm looking at this model is the wall is so big i need something to fill that wall. I know the picture quaity isn't going to be as good as other smaller models but i've looked at this in 4 showrooms. One playing a normal DVD, another playing Sky news using normal cable input and one playing blue ray. The ones playing the DVDs were excellent and the Sky news was I thought very good.

If i had the money i know which TV i'd buy (pioneer kuro) but my better half has told me the limit for a tv is 2000. I have 500 in my little poke so the grand total for the tv is 2500. Any comments would be great or if any body wants to send me a Kuro 50 inch that would solve all my problems.

    Cheers and all comments welcome

Bargain of the lifetime on 50" Panasonic PY70 Plasma TV at Alliance Electric. Its a far far better TV than the Philips. 2nd best 50" behind the Kuro.

Thanks for the replys...I know its only 2 inchs smaller (no smart comments please) but i'm going to be a bit checky and ask have you's seen this TV in the flesh and whats the quaity like.

I've no problem wether its LCD or plasma just looking for a big screen for a large wall.Would you believe i was in the philips shop down from Alliance Electrical during the week and never went in there. Seen a couple of posts here with only good things to say about this shop (hopefully the owner is reading this and will give me discount;)).

    Cheers

Yes , I have seen it along with most of the Panasonic models , its excellent , the only ones that would beat it would be the Pioneer , but the prices are in a different sphere altogether.

I get to see a lot of TVs , and get to compare a lot of em as well , and philips are not even in the same ball park as panasonic , so given that the panasonic is cheaper , its a no brainer really.
