Im going to go down the sniping road have nearly all the gear I want to actually make it to a skirmish now but just lacking a secondary weapon and was wondering whether I should go for a pistol or something like an mp5 or maybe a M15a4?

you need something small, a NBB pistol would be perfect since there not as noisey as GBBs, at the same time you need to be light and agile so ya cant carry anything too large or heavy.,

TM MK 23 socom would be what i'd go for, NBB and you get a spiffy silencer with it lol

i wouldnt bother with a pistol at all to be honest as they are not great in cold weather. i'd look at something like an mp5k or the new Mauri MAC 10. small/light and can be carried on a single point sling. also has the benifit of more shots if you are stuck or fancy not playing as a sniper some days.

yea thats one thing I kinda overlooked, are most games/sites suitable for sniper roles apart from the obvious like indoor games

Well yeah, but you have no range advantage due to the 1 joule law, but you are more accurate, and quieter, so the game here for snipers is to be sneaky.

+1 for the mp5k, I recommend the pdw, its stock can be removed and its an mp5k with a threaded barrel, makes it more flexible.

Get a Galaxy MP5K. You'll be safe with one of them.

most sites are suitable. the only thing is when it comes to getting in close, your out of luck with the sniper. room clearence for example. A GBB will do but you wont have the option to use it on its own as you would with say the mp5k

Imo any secondary will just get in the way, rubber knives are so much better:D I killed more people with my knife than i have any pistol.

Can I just emphasize its well worth getting the pdw variant of the mp5k by galaxy, you'll be hard pressed to find a cheaper way to get a folding stock than the 10$ or so extra it costs, plus the extra mag, flash hider and threaded barrel.

Wel the mp5k sounds like a safer bet than a pistol, got a ghillie suit but whats better camo for the gun ive seen the tape that can put on but also the wraps made of the same material as the suit

but both the MP5k and PDW are fierce noisey bastids., the PDW is handy with the threaded barrel but it still isnt the best gun to be quiet with.,

You can buy jute rags in a lot of gun stores and army surplus shops. Just tie them on or wrap them around the gun itself and you'll have a nice camo for it. Spraying it green first would be a good idea too as black can be easier seen than you'd think. Green is harder to see than black is in most environs.

I still hate you for that. You knife killed me at a spawn point one time and I didn't have the wherewithall to actually just bang kill you back becaues of it.

I think the idea of a backup richie, is that the shit has already pretty much hit the fan :D

thefact they are noisy shouldnt matter as its only for when you up close and under pressure. you'll have time to use the sniper otherwise.

Im creating a cover for my m4 from an ols pair of acu pants. couldnt bring myself to paint it as i have yet to see a paint job that doesnt make the gun look plasticy and like a cheap toy.

was looking at the mp5j thats got a retractable stock rather than folding

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

yeah i like them, the JG one, but its a bit longer than the PDW and K versions.,

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

defeats the point of being a small compact secondary gun though.
    I'd go with the mp5k.

Ah ha! I have one of them. nice piece fairly decent ROF bit dodgey on the selectors, but then again they all are. good value for money, and theres plenty of guys in here who know how to fix them!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

Irish airsoft supplies, if they have it in stock, are the cheapest I think, then Eirsoft, but tony probably has some in stock if IAS dont.

I have the TM MP5k and I can only trumphet its effectiveness as a great backup gun..... last skirmish it was outshooting my AUG

    ROF & Range is excellent

Lightweightish compared to having a rifle I have mine on a 1 point sling so I can just throw it behind me, its a little heavy and leg restricting on the drop leg holster so unless your buff & nimble don't bother with one ;)
Being compact its fantastic for thick brush cover when while sniping.
