Tree stump/trunk removal

We've cut down all the hedges & trees at the perimeter of our front garden & now have the stumps to deal with.

I'm concerned that the roots will continue to grow effecting the perimeter wall & the foundation of the house.

I'm not keen on getting a root grinder. I've heard that you can drill into the top of the stump and fill with oil to kill the root.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Bluefoam, For the sake of your garden I would avoid using oil as a stump killer.
Instead use a "root-out" type product which will not leave the residues that oil could.
    See here...... Tree Root Killing.
