Had unprotected sex with a guy exactly a week after the first day of my period. So I guess 8 days into my cycle. Just wondering how likely it is that I could be pregnant? as far as I can tell, you ovulate about day 14 in an average cycle [mine is usually longer than 28 days, the last one was a month late, so i'm quite irregular] and a sperm can live for 4 days or so. I know i'm stupid for not going to get the morning after pill and I know this isn't a medical forum, but I'm really worried. I totally regret what happened but i don't know what to do regards getting the morning after pill. He didn't cum inside me, but i know that doesnt rule out some of it getting inside either. I'm extremely worried and I will do a pregnancy test, but just wondering what the general opinion is. Also please dont go on at me about pregnancy being the only thing to worry about. I know all about STI's.

    Therefore you might be pregnent.

Is there any real point in going into the statistics? AFAIK it varies from person to person so you are not going to get a definite response anyway.

Not going to pontificate about the riskiness of it, you know that yourself. You can get an IUD fitted up to five days after the event OP, when did this happen? Try not to stress for now, 8 days should be less risky and he didn't come inside you but you do also have an irregular cycle so it is impossible to say, try not to worry OP, hopefully it will work out ok for you.

Thanks for the responses. And Miss Fluff ,thank you for your understandingness [that's not a real word but it's suitable!] Suppose I'll just wait and see and then do a test :)

AFAIK you actually ovulate 14 days before the 1st day of your period, i.e if you have a 30 day cycle you ovulate on day 16. Most ppl assume ovulation occurs on day 14 as it is most common to have a 28 day cycle.

Chances are you aren't pregnant so try to put it to the back of your mind. You aren't the first person to have had unprotected sex and regretted it so don't feel too bad - just promise yourself you'll not to do it again. :o

You're most fertile 12-14 days before your next period.....

Also, just to be aware, two of the regular contraceptive pills do the same job as the Morning After pill. Obviously this doesn't go highly recommended, but it helps of you don't have the time to get to the docs.

Hope all works out for you.

This ovulation figure is an average figure, based on many women's menstrual cycles. It is NOT fixed for every woman, as each woman's cycle will differ.

You are unlikely to be pregnant, but not guaranteed to not be pregnant. A pregnancy test will help answer your worries.

What? Have never heard this before. I wouldnt listen to that!

If you are worried go get a pregnancy test. If youre going to be going around having unprotected sex you should go on the pill to protect yourself from pregnancy. Also always use a condom next time if its someone you dont know and therefore dont know if they are free of STI's.

    Take care :)

Yes but sperm can live up to 5 days, If it is not too late I would take the morning after pill.
