I used to have very rare diconnect probs with ipoker using my eircom connection... however since changing my pc recently to a nice custom gaming machine I've had several disconnect and pausing probs... mainly freezing in a hand and coming back a few secs later...

I believed the problem was my new wireless LAN card... my router is in a different room and cant be moved ATM and my pc was located on the ground so I got thinking about signal strength although it showed strength as very good...

A few days ago i decided to buy a new ariel and got one from Maplins with a +12 gain.... it seems to have completely wiped out all disconnect probs I've been having and after 4 days of testing It has been absolutely perfect....

maybe worth a shot for those with constant problems.... BTW as per another thread the 3 connection is not good for poker in general as a friend of mine uses it and cant stay connected and moved to vodafone now with good results

    Mac

Mac I've a feeling ths ain't going to solve the whole iPoker diisconect probs. As you know I'm in Portugal, I'm not using wireless and it effects me occasionally too. Funnily enough it seems to happen more in mtts sngs than in cash. It was really bad timing on friday night. I was in the last 20 or so of the Friday $100k on iPoker, shortsacked and I was in BB with just 2 BB left when I got disconnected, needless to say i was calling with any 2 cards.. of course it gets disconnected just then at the worst possible time  It could have made every difference in the world as even average stacks were just about 10 BBs at that stage.

Signal strength from your wireless router is paramount. I've said before that while i-poker could do a lot more about the disconnect problems, its not a single-issue problem. WIFI connections are notoriously poor for the timely arrival of packets which is an issue for the i-poker client.
