You're entitled to nothing except what the social welfare may pay you.
Nobody can answer this question for you, it depends on what is in your contract.

Call HR next week and they can tell you.
Sorry, that's the only help you can get here.

You should be entitled to it no problem. Most companies would have a sick pay policy in place and have not heard of a probationary period in terms of sick pay. Usually after 3 days sick you will need to produce a sick note which you will get no problem.

Totally. You are not entitled to sick pay.

Being Irish has nothing to do with it either. Discrimination based on nationality is so last century.

You aren't entitled to sick pay but you may receive it anyway.
Unfortunately you can really only tell from your contract.
Employers do not have to pay it, but some do, especially in better paid jobs.

For example, in my job, while you're on probation (first 9 months), you don't get sick pay. After that, you do.
In my old job I got sick pay from the start.

Sometimes you've just gotta take the hit to get better.
    Sorry I can't help more.

Pythia is completely correct I am afraid. There is no requirement in the RoI for a company to provide sick pay. i have worked for very respected companies which do not in fact.

If your contract states that you will be payed sickpay, they cannot change that with out getting you to sign a new contract.
But most contracts will state the sick pay details ie(3 day uncertified 5 certified) and say that it is only payed at the discretion of the employer

I've worked in companies where people just take the piss when there's a sick pay policy, so I'm not suprised so many companies don't offer one anymore.

I know a girl who used to take two sick days every two weeks. I'll never forget the day she said out loud, "OMG we're allowed to take three days sick leave uncertified!" after re-reading her contract. You can probably imagine what happened after that...
