VOIP PBX Question - Incoming Calls

I want to set up a service to allow non tech people to ring in on landlines and listen in to our public address, and ideally, inject comments at times also. There is kit to do it in the U.S. for up to 6 people, but the isdn lines are much slower here. So I'm thinking VOIP

Can someone tell me if that can be done, and how? Get, say, 6 people ringing in before a meeting, listening in, and connect them to the same feed (Like the stupid tunes they play you while you hang on.)

So what you want is an open conference call for 6+ people?

6 incoming calls - people are placed on hold and when ready they hear your public address and can comment on same?

    Is this correct?

    Thanks for your reply
Yes, entirely correct. Hopefully I could mute them most of the time, and unmute unmute them to feed intoi the public address. Does any of the pbx software out there (linux or windows based) do that?

You can do this with Asterisk no problem. You would need a good net connection to support 6 incoming calls.

If this is just temporary have a look at blueface.ie - they support conferencing and would be able to set this up for you.

Thanks joePC - I'll do that. That makes my present pain more worthwhile.

I burned a cdr of trixbox (= asterisk in Centos) and it wouldn't boot. Bah, I burned another and this one did boot. Sadly, although I stopped it long before it could attack the disk, it seems to have wiped the partition table and I can't access anything. I now have to go at rebuilding an ide partition table. I've got a cdr here os DSL with DS fonts and have to try and sort whatever it needs to get going. There's 9 pertitions on my hd with data intact, but fdisk -l /dev/hda shows me none :-((.

Do you have any useful info on those partitions?

If not just start the install again and wipe the disc. What hardware are you installing on?

    Thanks, JoePC.

I actually managed to save them out of the fire with testdisk from.

It seems very good, user friendly, fast, and saved my butt when I deserved less.
The HD (ide, btw) needed a cold reboot, which caught me out yesterday.
