Hi, i'm getting sky in a few weeks and am getting 1 sky plus box and 1 normal digibox. But I was wondering if both must always be plugged into phoneline as this isn't really viable. One room can be connected without a problem but the other can't really. Can anyone shed some light on this please?

Its the same phoneline just its awkward to connect in one room. So is it neccessary that both boxes have to be constantly connected.

Yes. AFAIK, with multiroom, if Sky detect that one or more of your boxes are not connected to the phone line, they will write to you reminding you of your obligation to have both boxes connected to the same phone line at all times. If you ignore this, they can cut you off.

I would avoid using a DECT wireless phone extender if at all possible, especially if the satellite cable is not double screened copper on copper (CT100 or equivalent).
DECT phones and devices close to satellite boxes can interfere with certain frequencies on the cable causing picture break up on some channels.
If you can still get the type that use the mains wiring (hard to find these days) they are a much better bet.
If the problem is that you don't want a phone cable crossing a room, and your TV is on an outside wall, ask your installer if he could drill the wall and run a phone cable externally. He should use an outdoor quality cable though.

hi there,i have used a set of wireless phone extenders.very easy to install, only if you must.mine are made by a company called "all for one" sure you will find them on internet or a good electrical tv store.they are quite expensive for what they do,around the €80 to €100 mark depending where you get them(you just plug them in),regards;)

Maplins are selling the one for all wireless phone extension units for around €65 at present...there not the best make but cheapest by far...usually work ok when just the one is used.
