legal position regarding trees

Does anybody know what the legal position is regarding the maintenance of trees that have grown over a boundry line?
Is owner totally responsible or would the neighbour be responsible for cutting back anything that has grown on his side.

Also, second question, how can you determine exactly where a boundry lies? I have sent for a copy of our plan from the land registry but what professional can I call on to mark it out ...an architect? solicitor? .....engineer?....

Sorry Maisie, but as a rule you can't seek legal advice from this website.
