Cable run for sky+ install

Have to run the cable myself as the Sky engineer said he could only run it over the roof and down the front wall. I've no problem with this, rang sky and they said that its ok by them too. I'll leave the install engineer to attach connectors, dish etc.

Anyone know of a supplier close to Dublin that supplies dual satellite cables (if there is such a thing). I'm getting sky plus in two rooms and thought it would be easier to run the cables through the walls with a dual cable if it exists.

Also, any idea of the cost per metre for said cable.

Never heard of dual cable, But a 100mtr reel of sat aerial cable is around €25 in any electrical wholesale.

Its more expensive if you buy less than the normal 50mtr/100mtr reels as they have to cut it for you and will charge slightly more per mtr.

Just run two lengths from where dish will be to where sky boxes will be.

Bad advice in my opinion as electrical wholesalers are clueless when it comes to satellite cable. If theres a b and q near you see if they have PF100 cable which is good quality.

As long as you ask for and know which cable you want, you wont have to ask the "clueless wholesale staff"

And bad advice?.... has someone had an argument or two with their local wholesaler? :D

Also, Sat cable in B&Q is quite expensive due to the euro being weak against the pound at the mo.

In my opinion, and its only an opinion from someone who buys reels of this cable each week in wholesalers, you will get better value in an electrical wholesalers... just make sure you get Sat aerial cable which is better than normal aerial cable as it screened with a layer of foil to better prevent interference and signal loss.

    Hope this helps mr kr0nik.

What? The Euro is weak against the Pound? At £1 = €1.2762, the Euro is the strongest is has ever been against the Pound. Ever.

Im not here to discuss exchange rates FFS!

Certain things in UK owned stores (B&Q/Argos/Currys/Maplin Etc.) in Ireland are always a small bit more expensive due to currency rates between Euro and the UK Pound.

    Now, get back on topic.

PF100 cable is the sat cable im referring to.

Really? Only B and q sell this, wholesalers dont, I'm wondering why you did not mention PF100 in your post?

Asking for "satellite" cable is like asking a plumbing supplier for some pipe

If you are asking me no I have not, i have an excellent local wholesaler but he will tell you himself he has no clue on sat cable specs, not every wholesaler is as honest evidenced by newly built houses wired by electricians with incorrect cable.

Nonsense the euro is not weak against sterling its at its strongest level for years.

So are you telling us you buy reels of PF100 in wholesalers every week? And what exactly is "sat aerial" cable?

    Now, get back on topic.

Then stop posting incorrect price information, stay on topic yourself or go troll someplace else. Newcomers rely on correct information here not speculation.
