Buliding support frame for plants

    Hiya,

I'm trying my hand at Square Foot Gardening this year, and would like to build some vertical frames to support tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. The book recommends using 1/2" steel pipe or electrical conduit. I've got a few questions about this

    a) Has anyone tried using either of these materials for a frame?
    b) Buying new pipe is probably expensive - any suggestions for places or contractors in Dublin where I might buy used pipe?
    c) Instead of pipe, where might I find electrical conduit to buy in Dublin?

    Many thanks,
    casper

How about bamboo poles. Cheaper and look better than steel or plastic.

    see http://www.decorlattice.co.za/outdoor.htm

    perhaps:
plain trellis on 75 by 75 stakes should do unless the treated timber is nfg for the plants, else make up the trellis using untreated timber.
IMO steel/elec conduit is OTT for a GIY garden.

ps is this stuff in a glasshouse?
