Hey i'm looking to get a record player to play some tunes at home, not for DJing. I'd hope maybe someone can throw their two cents worth on whats a possible good buy off thomann.de could be for me? I'm not sure what the real benefit of either direct drive over turnbelt? and for me the only other requirement, i think as i'm undecided to what i need, is an ability to record onto cd or something like that to put all my old family vinyl onto disc. any suggestions welcome. thanks.

How much do you want to spend? You could get someything to start you off in Maplin that would do the job for a little over e100. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?menuno=11945&FromMenu=y&doy=21m3&MenuName=Turntables,%20Tape%20&%20Accessories

I need some advice on selling a record player. My dad received it around the early late 70's possibly early 80's according to his memory¬¬ But someone I know has taking a intrest in it.He's offered 120 euro for it plus some old dublinler vinyl's but I'm clueless on price worth. It's a thomson vtm 2400 also a cassette player so it can't be that old and it's in good condition works fine the needle has no damage and both of the speakers work aswell.I've tried looking around the internet for it but I can't even find a mention of one nevermind price worth. So I was wondering does anyone have a idea or even a estimate?

unless it is a serious deck like bang olufsen or riga, and is a seperate direct drive, it wont be worth that much, so the price he has been offered is about right-the replacement needle would probably cost more!
The dubliner vinyls, if in good nick would be worth more, so hang onto them or sell them through a dealer or ebay, but they need to be in really good nick!
