    Hi

I've just upgraded to Sky+ so now I've got a spare digibox. If I run another cable from the dish to this box can I use this box in another room.

I know I'd have to get another viewing card, do I have to pay another subscription to Sky?

    Thanks!

It's called sky multi-room and they charge €15 or €20 a month for it I think.

is it possible to purchase a viewing card myself and recieve channels without getting multi-room?

    I don't know but I'd doubt it.

Yes, you can run a cable from the dish to the old box in another room.

Even without a card, you'll get the free channels, which include all BBC, all ITV, Sky News, CNN, Bubble Hits, Film 4, etc.

And the only way to get any other channels I am currently subscribed to is to activate the card through Sky and pay the additional Multi-Room costs?

It is €15 per month for multiroom. Also, sky insist that both boxes be connected to the same working phone line so that they can verify that the multiroom subscription is being used in the one house.

You could also split the lead from the sky+ box and run a lead to the old box in another room. Only downside is that you will have to watch whats on the Sky+ box.

I have a redundant multiroom set up and the ordinary sky box is up in the bedroom and as byte said it is capable of getting loads of free channels without a card.

And that allows you watch different channels on each box?

How easy is it to run the cable from the dish to the old box?
