No Sound on Computer

    Hi, I have a problem with the sound on my computer(since i had to re-install windows because computer wouldn't start). When i go to play music it gives my a warning message "Bad direct sound driver". I've tried re-installing the with no improvement.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    If it onboard sound, disable it, remove the drivers and restart. Then re-enable and restart and install the drivers.

    If it is a card, remove the drivers and shut down. Remove the card and start the PC. Shut down, refit the card and start the PC. Install the drivers.

    Usually when you reinstall drivers it is best to take out the old ones first.

    how do i disable the sound beacuse when i go into sound and audio devices in the control panel it says that there is no audio device there
