POS - Point Of Sale

I was wondering, does anybody know of a really easy and basic POS that doesn't require a connection to an apache network or local host or anything like that. Just an open source piece of software that may even just use an excel database or something simple that would work like an electronic interfaced cash register system?

Basically What I need to be able to do is the following:

I would need to be able to run it off my normal PC desktop using windows xp.
I will have products with unique product codes and when a customer brings these up I would type the product code in and informations such as product, price(before and after vat), description and quantity would be displayed. Obviously for that to work I would have to be able to add/edit/delete a database that would hold this information.
I would like to be able to change or select the amount of quantity of a product, as in if a customer had 2 of the same item I could simply select a quantity of 2 instead of typing the product in again.
I would need to be able to cancel an item in case a customer doesn't want it after i have already rang it up.
After I have rang up all the items I would need to be able to get a sub total, the amount of vat and then the overall total.
If possible the amount of items bought also to be displayed.
I would also like if I could type in how much the customer gave me and then it display the amount of change to be given.

Basically it is like a supermarkets cash register but without the receipt printer or cash register. It would simply run in windows.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction and understand what I mean.
