I was offered a graduate job with siemens corporate research a few months back in Princeton New Jersey. I didnt take it though as the money was very low compared to an offer I had in Ireland but I would love to have gone otherwise. They may still have positions left though so it would be worth checking their website.

However the best idea is too work in ireland for a year or two within a multinational and then ask for a transfer within the company to Country X given they have jobs in that location.

Would you go to England? Lots of well paid IT jobs over there.

I agree with earlier post, having worked in Ireland (north and south), England and australia (at IT) I think your best bet is to try and get some experience here and then get company here to provide opportunity to work abroad - there are numerous companies offering these types of opportunities and the experience is excellent. Seeing other countries this way is also different from the usual holiday or even back-packer type experience - and the money can be very good (excellent per diems are normally on offer).
Also from my experience (of working and hiring) - having worked for some time in the IT sector in Ireland opens doors abroad due to the respect the industry is held in here - I know people who have tried to come here (and they have experience) to gain experience in the sector here...

but thats just a thought - good luck with whatever u decide...

One of my lecturers had a masters student working over their and had a close relationship with them. I also had 20 months experience I got while working in college as I took a year out and worked. To be honest your unlikley to get anything with them actually as I believe they filled all these positions months ago as it takes a while to organize the work permit.

What you should do is talk to any past lectures you can and see if they are aware of any international work you could do.

There was talk a few months ago that New Zealand were looking for IT people.

Also, Norway was taking on IT people, some straight out of college (as opposed yo having to work somewhere first), due to an IT shortage.

Based on my family gainfully employed in IT and struggling to get buy their outlook is fairly pessimistic for IT and they have worked abroad so they know their onions

Its presently a case that unfortunately the IT industry being mostly a bottom feeder industry it is severely impacted with any down turns and seems to be going through a very rough period in this time

Best to stay in Ireland or UK and wait for the storm to blow over probably a few years and then things should pick up again

If the dollar continues to bomb at this rate and goes to $2 to E 1.00 Euro the majority of the offshore USA IT companies will probably pack up and leave to go home or India whatever and they account for ~30% of the Irish economy so if that happens all hell could break lose:eek:

Thats an equally large problem for everyone not just IT. American companies dont just do IT in ireland. Also at the moment their are a lot of jobs out there in IT.

Funny you mentioned Hudson. I spent a year working in New Zealand and they were agency I dealt with. They got me a good job too. Things are really good in IT over there. Although that may change with the recession.
