    Hi
I've booked a flight from Dublin to Las Vegas for 18th April through Continental Airlines Website - however I only have 1.5 hours for the connection in Newark between Flight 23 from Dublin-Newark and Flight 668 Newark-Las Vegas. I had presumed that we would pre-clear customs in Dublin - but it now appears that this may not be the case? Will it be Continentals responsibilty to get me on the next available flight if I miss my connection? Any answers appreciated!

As far as I know, once you are fully booked through, then yes. If you are concerned about it though, I would suggest ringing Continental and asking them 1890 925 252

Am pretty sure CO023 pre-clears customs in Dublin. If you don't, the queues in Newark are nowhere near as bad as in JFK, so you should be fine.

Thanks - this helps a lot - at least I know what to expect now! Hopefully we will make the connection - if not, guess we will have plenty of time in Newark for a few pints!

    Lisabyte,

You usually pre clear immigration in Dublin.

You DO NOT pre clear customs - you will do this in Newark.

You should be ok as your booking is a through to LV.

If you do miss your connection - take it up with Continental in EWR - they will sort it for you.

If you do happen to miss your flight because of customs/immigratio delays, Continental is pretty good about putting you on the next flight to your final destination. Since you also have to recheck your luggage at customs it is in their interest to get you onto that same plane or they will have to delay it as well to take off your luggage. They know where all of their passengers are coming from based on their passenger list so they can usually tell if passengers that are transferring are going to have a tough time getting to the appropriate gate.

Usually there is another flight a few hours later with the same airline-if you really want to put up a fuss then you can try to have them put you on another airline's flight if it is sooner but then you may run into some baggage issues if it was already checked through with Continental.
