Boylepoker sponsors Marty Smyth 2007 Irish Open Winner

Boylepoker, part of Irelands largest independent bookmaker, the Boylesports group, announces the signing of Marty Smyth, 2007 Irish Open Poker Champion. The sponsorship deal will see Boylepoker sponsor Marty for the remainder of the 2008 season as he continues to cement his reputation as one of the world’s leading players.

Paul Spillane, Boylepoker Manager said, “We are incredibly proud Marty choose us as his partner in the face of some serious competition for his signature. Signing the UK player that actually earned the most money in live events in 2007 is a sign of things to come. Marty represents all the attributes we look for in a poker player and subsequently we hope to provide all the attributes that Marty looks for in an online cardroom; professionalism, first class service & games that meet the player needs.”

Marty Smyth said “2007 was my breakthrough year in terms of major tournament results. I am hoping that with the Boylepoker sponsorship deal, I can focus on making 2008 an even better one.”

In 2007 Marty not only fended off challenges by Roland De Wolfe and Sorel Mizzi to become the Irish Open Champion, he was also a whisker away from winning the Poker Million, where he finished a credible 6th in 2006. Joe Beevers needed to catch a miracle card on the river in their titanic heads up duel, which he duly did to defeat his battling opponent.
