On ebay I came across this seller. They mostly sell Dell laptops / desktops. I can see some really good deals over there.

    http://stores.ebay.ie/EComputers-LTD

Power seller, feeback over 99% positive, more than 17000 feebacks.

I checked with them, they do deliver to Ireland.

Now my question: In most of the ads they are very specific that its UK spec. How much does a UK spec laptop differs from an Irish spec? Anyone any idea?

No difference. The difference is between US and UK keyboard layout or in some case a European keyboard. So buy away!

Be aware that it's very likely that you'll get caught for import duty, VAT and the courier's handling charge on entry so factor that into the price.

^^ I dont think there will be any import duty as the item will be shipped from UK.

What made you think there will be import duty?

As for VAT, if you see the description of any item it says that 17.5% VAT is included in the price.

Sorry, you can ignore that post. I completely misread the 'over there' part as being in the States.:o

Did you buy off this seller in the end?

Where would the sellers on ebay get their dell laptops? There are some good deals - just wondering if its above board or a bit dodgy?

Have a look in the Bargain Alerts thread- there is a link to Dell laptops with discount vouchers there. This guy doesn't seem to be remarkably good value at all.......

Apologies for the delay in reply. I am yet to buy a new laptop, still working away on the old one :)

Although one of my friend did buy a laptop. XPS 1530, T7700, 1650X1080, 256 MB graphics card, 250GB HDD, 4GB memory and Blu-ray disc. He got it for €1256 + delivery. It includes 3 year warranty from Dell, next day on site. They take your details and transfer the warranty.

The laptop is as new. Good value I think if you take into account the warranty. As far as I know they get the systems from dell outlet.

    Hope it helps.

Looks alright. They say VAT is included. Might go with this seller or Dell EPP.

    Feck- thats some machine.
Its gone over £900 already though- I'd suggest hanging out for something more reasonable. Its a hell of a nice machine- and the twin graphics in SLI is something else. The only thing I have against it is the processor isn't quite up there with the top of the range xps machines around. Its one hell of a sexy machine though!

You should check out Dell Outlet and their eBay section as well you'll get a good value refurb there with full warranty - I don't see anything on that site worth talking about price wise.

Got out bid :( That Dell had SLI. A similar setup on Dell.ie came to nearly 2 grand!
