Hi guys. I am not a regular poster in this forum, and hope I am not breaking any rules, but here is something that may be of interest to some of you. It is a charity Golf competition being run in Portlaoise Golf Club in June by the Missing in Ireland Support Services.

There will be prizes and food/drinks provided afterwards.

Please help if you can, or pass on to anyone who may be interested.

    Many thanks...

Don't want to rock the boat but how many teams is it open to?

    Define food? sandwiches or meal?

What about handicaps. Do you need an official GUI? What if you don't have one.

Should charities not suppose to display their number on publications?

I'll find out those details and post back. As I said, I'm not a golfer myself. As for the food. :pac:I would imagine it would be sandwiches and refreshments, it is a charity fundraiser for a good cause.

It is €100 pp as 2 people make out a fourball team or is it four person team event?

The green fee is only €20 in Portlaoise.

All classics I have played in offer a dinner afterwards.

The charity will be making around €70 pp as you will find most prizes are sponsored and then you have holes sponsored on the day etc.

    Good luck with it anyway.

    Charity number is CHY16205
Tea/ Coffee and sandwiches etc will be provided for.
    €200 for a team of 4.

This event is only for sport, and to raise much needed funds but if some if you just want to question what you will be getting, or think that you are being ripped off then don't go. It's just supposed to be a fun day out for charity. Anyone who has gone through this experience or knows someone that is or was missing, will fully understand that there is no state service provided for families of missing persons and our charity relies on fundraising events to keep us going. We are not in this for a profit, so if you are genuinely interested in going, we would be delighted to have you and if you have any questions please contact Ann on 086-3149035 or Blanaid on 087-9805707

Unfortunately there seems to be alot of negativity and scepticism around this board these days.

But Teflon, best of luck with the event. Some of the most fun days i've had on the golf course (and off it afterwards) have been charity events. Looks like you've put together a good day.

Hope it all goes well and you raise a shedload of money.

The Golf Club in Portlaoise is really a glorified Par 3 that has had a few holes extended to Par 4. It is a genuine test for your irons and can be some cool fun. To be honest the charity is the most important part of this and its a worthwhile one to support. All of the monies collected are being channeled into the eye of its storm and not into administration costs which swallow up a percentage of other fundraising.
I would lie to think that I will be up to support this venture but the Tramore Scratch Cup is on that day so I might not be able to.
Best of luck with the venture and as has already been said I hope you fill the Timesheet and raise an obscene amount of money!!

    Matt
