Lost luggage

So i arrived into Cork saturday morning after travelling 24 hours from Samui to Bangkok, Bangkok to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Cork.
There was 3 of us travelling, 3 bags missing
2 of the bags arrived the next day but knowing my luck, mine wasnt one.
Daily i ring Aer Lingus but daily i get the same message

''We have sent info requests off to the relevant airports but havent heard anything back yet, we'll try again''

My question is, is my luggage lost forever?
Also, i have to wait 28 days before its officially 'lost' and can make a claim

When i make a claim, do they just take my word as to what was in the bags as i will definitely not have receipts for everything in there

Never actually lost luggage, only delayed. Once coming back from Rome on AL and once on a charter.

Both times the airlines referred to this site: www.mylostbag.com

Bags generally show up eventually. In the case of Aer Lingus it was 6 days, for the charter it was next day as the ground handlers just forgot to put one crate of baggage into the hold and when we went to the desk to report our bags missing they were able to tell us immediately what the story was.

There is a limit to how much they have to compensate you (roughly €1,000) and it's never a great idea to falsify your claim in case the bags do show up!

For what it's worth, you may be better trying the airline you travelled back to Amsterdam with, it's unlikely that the bag ever made it to there.

Last August I flew from Ulan Bator to Moscow to Prague to Amsterdam and finally to Dublin so wasn't really surpised when my bag didn't arrive, it should eventually turn up, mine did about 7 days later.

it looks like my luggage is gone
    its been 12 days.
Aer Lingus say Schipol airport cannot locate it at present.
I have to wait 21 days before its officially lost
I have travel insurance and am insured up to 3 grand which, you can be sure i will be maxing out
    So pissed off
Its not bying all new clothes thats annoying me its the fact that the stuff i had i loved and all the memories from my hols i.e. the camera and memory cards are gone
Aer Lingus did say though that even if they find it up to 6 months down the line they will give it back, even if i did make a claim

The insurance company would be looking for the money back though.
the camera and memory cards are gone
Your were always asking for trouble putting something like that in checked in luggage.

In this day and age I don't know a single person who would place a camera in checked in luggage (obviously within a baggage). Even if your baggage was to turn up now theres a good chance no camera would be there, with or without a lock on the bag.

Something of both monetary and sentimental value like that should be carried in hand luggage.

Your schtick is getting tiresome. Banned, until you can convince me that it's worth having you on this forum.
