try not shooting directally into the sun.. it doesn't do wonders for pics..

I think i can see what you were going for, The light flowing over the rock pools and stream, but, for me anyway, it just doesn't work. The sun completely washes any colour from the scene. It just seems poorly planned to me, perhaps turning 180 degrees and looking the other direction with the sun behind you down the stream would have been nice. Generally speaking, shooting into the sun is always going to cause problems. Well theres my 2 cents, i'm only an amateur as well, so i'm sure there'll be some more insightful posts.
What were you trying to capture, did you have a plan?

I think the sun streaming over rocks (or anything), always looks better in real life™. So while it can look like the perfect shot it rarely transfers well to 'print'.

But yours is one of the better attempts I've seen!

    Hi Karen,

I don't think this really works to be honest - purely because the sun is much too dominant in the scene. It's very difficult to control the exposure when shooting into a sun this bright so maybe waiting until later in the evening when it's less harsh and the light is warmer, may be worthwhile. Had you taken a few steps to the right or left of the scene and shot across the light - it may have worked out better...

Totally disagree with that as I have taken some great shots where I wanted to have direct sunlight in the shot (well it was planned so it does make a difference) ;)

The only thing I would say is to use flash to bring the detail up in the subject matter.

When I look at it, it could easily be a tiny stream or a mountain range as the perspective is thrown off by the sunlight. Very interesting result to give a duel view.

You could try and use a polariser as well which would help?

Again what camera/lens were you using.
