Hi, as the topic says has anyone done this tour before. Could anyone recommend it? I see the is a helicopter tour company that covers it, wondered if it was worth the day trip.

You would be better off taking a flight to Buffalo and then crossing the canadian boarder. If you go by bus it takes 8 hours each way and the falls are not as good from the american side.

    jjbrien,

I haven't crossed over to the Canadian side of the falls but I can tell you that if you get onto the Maid of The Mist from the US side you will get a excellent view.

The area around the falls on the US side isn't great.

The Canadian side looks much better (you can see it across the water).

I have heard that the queues at immigration coming back from Canada into the US can be very long - although I can't confirm this - maybe someone else can comment on this.

If you do go by road (bus or car), I can tell you from experience that its a long drive - I would recommend that you stay overnight at the falls. Don't stay in Buffalo. The best hotels and restaurants are on the Canada side.

You might want to check out bluejet flight prices from JFK to Buffalo - sometimes they can be very reasonable and for a budget airline they put other airlines to shame. You can hire a car in Buffalo airport and drive to the falls.

Hope this helps a little !
