Really like the second one - good composition (as well as the obvious stuff with the circle and the statue, the lights in the stalls form a clear horizontal line drawing the eye in to the centre), and great colours for a night shot. (I'm guessing it is the Tuileries in Paris).

Third one not bad. Captures a particular atmosphere (made me think of Eastenders and the market and the caf, working class english etc).

Not really into 1 and 4. Maybe aim to get more colour and contrast in when you are taking those kind of shots?

It's the Christmas Market in Edinburgh!! Thanks for that, I'll remember about more colours :)

I really like the Edinburgh one. Its a pity about the person on the left. I'd suggest cropping him/her out but I think then you'd lose a lot of what draws the eye into it.

The one of the girl probably would have worked much better in portrait format. It'd be better not to cut her legs out, and I think probably would have made a stronger focal point. It looks a little washed out but maybe some adjustments in photoshop would help. Was it shot on a very sunny day? It looks a little over-exposed in places.

Best bit of advice I ever got was to look all around the frame when you're taking a shot, not just at what you want the focus to be. It really helps :)

I'd like to know what the girl in pic 1 is looking at cos thats where the attention is drawn. a portrait shot might have working better here. Pic 3 doesn't really do a lot for me because I'm looking at the back of the guy on the right. It comes across as 'just a snap'. Pic 4 seems a little washed out. A lower angle would have working here a lot better. All in all, good photos but room for improvement!

EDIT: I didn't rework your post sineadw, didn't see your post between entering the thread and posting my own reply! so there's no plagarism here!

Thanks for the advice guys, sinead, i did try cropping out the guy on the left but didn't like the finished look.

The little girl was looking at the fountain in Eyre Square in Galway... she was actually playing about in it.

I'll keep all this advice in mind, thanks a mill guys.

Head up to the botanic gardens the next chance you get and try a low perspective with all the squirrels there. bring some monkey nuts too and you'll definitely keep their attention for a long time while you snap away!

    Biscuits work better :p

Don't let the staff see you bringing them in though ;)

Biscuits?! Have they any preferences? And I hope nobody sees this or we could have a few overweight squirrels on our hands!
