Just looking for some recommendations of hardware to buy here.

At present I have my mixer hooked up to an old Audigy sound card, but am thinking of getting an external sound card for my laptop and using that instead.
Had a quick browse on thomann.de and don't really have a clue about what is good there...

I've ordered a DJM800, so I guess something that has a digital input would be handiest, but I also wouldn't mind something with RCA phono ins as well. (a couple of outputs would be handy too, but not essential)

Budget is around €200 tops, preferably a USB device that doesn't require external power...

While I'm asking the question, is there any kind of device that I could use to record directly onto it (some small HD based deelio)
I know that I could just buy a cd writer, but I prefer having everything recorded as a wav file ready to be tweaked...

Ah cool, that looks like just the job!
The Ikey plus looks a bit better (mostly due to the VU meter)

Got ****loads of usb memory keys lying around the place, would be dead handy just being able to plug a 2GB one into that and record for a couple of hours

    /edit
seems to get fairly mixed reviews though... Think I might be better off just going for a sound card instead :(

i use a behringer sound card(the one that costs 35 quid on www.htfr.co.uk)

and i use a programme called Audacity(its free off the net,and it simply captures audio from the soundcard)

its cheap and cheerfull, but man,it actually works real well.

Im not spending 300 quid on a soundcard yet,ill leave that for a while until im a bit more established!

here is an image of the soundcard:

again Behringer, cheap n cherrfull, does the job,if you just want to give someone "an aul mix"

in fact,i have a drum machine/synth(Korg EMX) and i make patterns on it,and route them into the laptop and by god,the sound quality is VERY good(surprizingly)

    best of luck with that!

One of these http://www.pcdj.co.uk/shop/item.php?id=94 or these http://www.pcdj.co.uk/shop/item.php?id=39 are very good and give excellent sound. Also the facility to have more channels.
