Coastal Stoats

    Hi All,

was out wandering around the cliff tops of Waterford yesterday and I got to within about 4 or 5 feet of a stoat.

He wasn't shy at all and saw me from some distance away and still came bounding on over before sticking his head up over the cliff to inspect me for a couple of seconds. I know they are very sure footed creatures but I wasn't aware that they lived on cliffs.

I'm pretty sure he did live on the cliff, unless the hole I saw him come out of was a rabbit burrow.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen a cliff dwelling stoat?

I've only ever seen them in the midlands, around Laois and Offaly. They can be quite fearless though, as you noticed too.
