    Hi,

I had a great book years ago, called "The 35mm Handbook: A Complete Course from Basic Techniques to Professional Applications" by Michael Freeman.

In fairness, I haven't remembered that title - I had to google Michael Freeman this morning.

Anyway, I found it really useful & interesting. We've just bought an Olympus E-410 and I'm thinking a good informative & instructive book would be great to help us along. I know that 35mm book helped my enjoyment of my Olympus OM-10 & Pentax Z10 back then, so I wondered if Michael Freeman did a DSLR or even a regular digital guide. He does seem to, but I wanted to know what books other folk find/found genuinely helpful & interesting before I decide.

    Thanks,

    Mark

I think he should be paying you by now for all your recommendations...

Does anyone think to read the sticky that says 'Read this before posting'? The book thing is in there

I think you're quite correct... When I finally take delivery and read his portrait photography book (hopefully sometime this week) I should be able to recommend that one also, thereby further strengthening my case for a cut of his profits.

well isn't there some system whereby you can link to his books on amazon and get paid commission by amazon, or do I have that all wrong?

+1 again for Understanding Photography ,

also he has a new title coming out soon called ,

Understanding Shutter Speed: Creative Action and Low-Light Photography Beyond 1/125 Second

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0817463011/ref=pe_5050_8319330_pe_snp_011

I shall be picking this up ( I have it pre-ordered) and hopefully it will be on the recommended list shortly afterwards , it should be if its anywhere near as good as the others.

Can't speak for anyone but myself, but I didn't think there'd be anything in there so I didn't look. Sorry.

Regarding the books that are being recommended - why do you like them so much? What are their strengths?
