Does anyone know where i (a man) would go and get a fertility test done in Dublin? I contactes SIMS but they said there is a 10 week wait.....

I did one of the home test kits over the last 2 weeks (fertility score) and one result was kind of pink (positive) and one was king of purple (negative) I was reading alot on the internet over the past few weeks and as I had an operation when I was younger (undescended testicle) I thought I had better get a test done as they say I could be infertile. :(

Is there a wellwoman one for men?

I was on their website and I dont think they do fertility testing and charge €25 to email them a question.....

I sent an email to some of the other suggestions you gave me on the link.

    Thanks

Is there a particular reason you won't just go to your GP and tell them the story and get them to do it, or to refer you on somewhere that will?

If you don't want to go to your own GP for whatever reason, you should be able to get a referral through another surgery - there are a couple of 'walk-in' surgeries in Dublin, or alternatively, just make an appointment at a private practice - Temple Bar Medical Centre, Suffolk Street Surgery, Mercer's Medical Centre are all central and should be able to do the test, or refer you on for one.

Despite what they say on the packet, the results from many of the home-testing kits are not the most reliable, and there are many factors which can affect the outcome of a semen analysis test at the best of times, so I think you'd be better off just getting it done properly.

    Best of luck.

Go to your GP and ask them to refer you.

I just looked at the wellwoman site:

    http://www.wellwomanclinic.ie/sections/article_id_16.html

its not much but they may help... i guess that a gP referral would be the best as beruthiel says

    Vhi cover it anyways:

I had a vasectomy done a few years ago and as part of that afterwards I had to give two ejackulation samples into be tested to make sure the procedure was sucessful.

It's just a case of **** into the supplied container and dropping it into the retundra hospitial. I suspect many doctors could set it up. But I had the whole lot done by a dr Niall O leary out in finglas.

So either contact your own Gp and ask him to set it up or phone Niall and arrange an appiontment

Go to your GP and get a referral. Simple as.

your gp will give you the jar and a sheet explaining how to go about it (ie how to transport it to the lab while keeping it warm etc) and normally, a number of the relevant person in the lab, so you can ring them to arrange a time to drop it off to them (it has to be tested within a certain timeframe, so you have to arrange a time to drop it off at).

Unfortunately you could be in for a wait anyway, it could be anything from a week to 12 weeks depending on how busy the labs are. Also would do no harm to get your other half to get her bloods checked as an initial investigation for her too, I know you say you reckon you may be the one with infertility probs, but would do no harm to have herself start getting a few non-invasive procedures done too to rule out issues on her side. Good luck.

Go to GP, and have test done privately. You pay GP, you bring sample to lab, pay fee and result is sent to GP that day. In Cork, Bons Secours does the test, but only through doctor. You cannot simply arrive with bottle and ask for test!

You need to bring sample to hospital asap and keep it warm. The little lads dont like the cold.

    Keep the faith!!!!
