How to convert dvds to files playable on laptop/media player

Hi, i have the trial version of Divx and jetaudio. I was tryin to use them to convert dvds to files I can play from my laptop/on my iaudio media player independently of the dvds. Any advice??? thanks a mill

Here's the way to do it...

Download DVDshrink. - Its freeware!

In the preferences select backup to harddrive and don't select the 'use seperate Video_TS and Audio_TS folders'.
Backup your movie to a location on your hardrive.
Go to that location and find the .vob files.
The largest of these is generally the movie. The others are the extras etc(before backing up you can just select the main movie to backup - this will also save time converting)

.vob files are actually just mpegs! Rename the file to .mpg and bingo!
If you cant rename it, in my computer, go to tools - folder options - view and untick the option - hide file extensions for known file types. This will reveal the .vob in the file name. Now simply rename the .vob bit to .mpg
