A "big announcement" at E3

There's a story going around the net at the minute (apparently it comes from Reggie himself so it looks legit) that Nintendo will make a big announcement at E3 this summer regarding their lineup for the Christmas period, ie they have a "huge" game in the pipeline.

It's somewhat exciting to think about as long as it isn't just unfounded hype. Personally I'd love a new IP from Nintendo, or failing that something we haven't seen in a long time like Earthbound or Kid Icarus, or failing that I wouldn't mind a new Zelda either!

Thoughts?

Hoping for another zelda. The timing is right, considering when TP was released.
I've heard more than one commentator suggest Kid Icarus though.....

I wish they'd leave Star Fox alone, the original, 2, and possibly 64 were the only ones that were any good and they've messed with the series too much. Every single game in the series has been made by a different developer, it's a mess.

I'm gonna guess Zelda, they did say TP would be the last Zelda game "as we know it"

A new IP might be very good. As long as its not a Donkey Kong, I'll be happy. They were great games on the snes but that's it. I don't think that it would be good on the wii, just the 3d I think ruins it.

A new Zelda title would be pretty damn sweet, with either the TP engine rebuilt and optomized for Wii, or a new engine... show off what the wii can do! Wonder how they're planning to change it though, as they were talking about TP being the last one "as we know it"

As long as they don't try to "MMORPG-it-up" I trust Nintendo to take the series in a positive direction. A new engine would be nice, but it sounds like they have a larger change to the series in mind.....

I was thinking they might take it deeper into RPG territory (could be decent so long as it keeps the Zelda charm) or take it into first person action adventure land, somewhere between Metroid Prime and Oblivion... ?

A new Metroid series would be awesome, but I'm 99.9% certain that this will be the Zelda title...

Certainly Animal Crossing Wii is coming out regardless, as for a Zelda title, isn't it a little soon?
With all the big IPs coming to us in 2008, MarioKart Wii, Wiifit, SSBB what else can the normal Wii gamer take?

I'd love to see an adaption of the "stories" projects the GTA team has been making on the PSP and PS2, I want to see GTA San Andreas Stories on the Wii, Driver Parallel lines has shown it can be done.

A Jeff Minter project would be cool too, lovely sheepie

Don't think it's too soon for Zelda. It will have been two years since TP came out, and I remember hearing that they had already started on the next Zelda before they got TP released.

How do people think they'll change Zelda, if the last one was to be the last "Zelda as we know it"? I kind of can't see the series go through such a radical change so quickly, which is the only reason I don't think the announcement will be a new Zelda, but rather one of the older franchises....

I quite liked Space Giraffe, the 5 or 6 times I played it.

I'd love if it was Luigi's Mansion 2, but that's just me!
Kirby wii might be fun. If it's another Zelda, I'd be slightly disappointed, I mean we all know another one will come eventually, it's not surprising or anything..
A new series would be amazing! I'd love to see Kid Icarus or Earthbound come along.

I just hope it's not the announcement of something we all know is coming anyway!
