I am new here so hope that this posting is in the correct thread?

I am looking for advise from anyone who has worked for a company as an employee and has managed to change over to being a Commission Sales Agent for the same company.

I have been working for a company almost 7 years now and have realised that there is no potential to futher myself within as the organisation is based in the UK.

The only option that I see right now to further myself is to ask them to give me a Sales commission agency which would allow me to represent non competitive brands within the same industry. The industy I am in is mainly staffed by Sales commission agents.

Any advise on how I might go about convincing my employers to give me this agency would be well appreciated.

I dont get it.. you want them to give you agency rights to sell other brands?

is that insurance sales or something you are in?

in response anyway.. text book negotiation method is to demonstrate how useful you are to the company and to your line manager, strongly get this message home and then tell them you are going to leave but would consider taking an agency role. however this could back fire if they just say ok thanks & goodbye

    Thanks shantor,

I would hope that in building up the brand I work for it would not end this way. I have heard from within the company that my services were essential to the future of the business as we do quite well in ireland and suppose that this has helped lead me down this path also.

I am in a particular sports trade industry where it is common for agents to carry other brand as agencies also - they usually dont conflict with each other. A simple example might be hurling - one brand might sell the hurleys and another might sell the protective headwear and another a particular glove and so.

If anyone else has any particular personal experinece of making the move from employment to ageny I would love to hear from you also or if you know of any particular website that might specialise in this area of advise in Ireland or UK.

    Thanks

I did sales insurance but after a few years gave it up to do other things like dodge the marriage bullet and travel the world

My brother struggled on and made a lot more money but then he married a expensive girl

If your red hot at sales Its a no brainer you dont work as a employee for anybody and make all the money for you but the risks are all yours too
And there is no loyalty in sales your today's last sale has no meaning tomorrow its like looking for freebee from the whore the next day
