JG G36, you'll be hard pushed to find anyone say a bad word about it.

I would have previously recommended the Dboys M4, but after seeing the built quality of both the JG M4 and the slightly more expensive but still reasonable Classic Army Sportsline M4, i'd say get one of those instead if you want an M4.

Not personally a fan of the Steyr Aug, but the JG one is quite good from what i've heard

Changed your mind about the UMP, huh ? :)

The Steyr is a lovely little gun, but it has nothing in the line of accessories so it's a little limited if you want to customise. The iron sights aren't great, the 3x (or is it 1.5x in the JG?) isn't bad though and is about as much magnification as you'll need with it.

The M4's have about every accessory in the world available to them but, as kd said, you'd be better of with the CA version rather than the DBoys unless you're dead set on metal. The iron sights aren't bad and you can stick on a dot-sight if you need one.

The JG G36c is a popular little unit and is damn good for the price. She seems fairly sturdy and gives little to no trouble. The hand guards have threaded sockets to recieve rails shouls you wish to put on accessories later. The iron sights are top notch and there's a nice rail for dot-sights if you want one. The only thing I would warn about is the magazines, they're pretty big. Getting a vest for them can be a pain (flecktarn.co.uk is your best bet to get G36 mag pouches). You can get a STANAG conversion kit though to allow it to take M4/16 magazines.

I got a DBoys M4 all-metal, which would have been great, but the warnings about cheap clones held true and it's in for repair after an afternoon of play. Still.

All true, it's very sturdy, easy to use and a standard across the world for a secondary/CQB AEG. The mag issue is a real one, vests tend to be designed for the STANAG mags and the G36 mags are huge in comparison. On the other hand, they clip together, so you can have 3 mags on your G36/C at a time. And since so many other people have the G36C, you can easily mag-share and you'll never be stuck for parts or know-how from more experienced players (I can tell you this from personal experience). I'm damn glad I got one.

I ended up standardising my very limited armoury on the G36/C/SL-8 range, because all the mags are inter-changeable, and I see my Airsoft budget in the future being limited :(

the g36 mags can lock together too so thats handy, i can carry 3 of them on the gun comfortably,.
if ya want an M4 as the lads said, Sportline all the way.,
I wouldnt buy the AUG based on the fact that its a, Hmmm an AUG.,

    :D

theS-System is good but you'd be better off getting the sportline and just fitting the s-system rail if thats what ya want, i saw it on a site somewhere the other day for 20dollars.,

What that you die now or that he is right, Saying the AUG is one of the best Rifles in the world, Puts the M4 to shame to name but one :D

2 G36 mags clipped together are the same thickness as 3 STANAG mags so if you can get a vest with triple mag pouches or AK pouches, you're laughing. If not, G36 pouches are easily found for MOLLE vests.

The magwell converter is simplicity itself to install and is available for the real steel equivalent too so you're not losing any realism. They were designed to allow the G36 take standard STANAG mags when needed and are issued with every RS G36 in the Bundeswehr. Don't look half bad either.

It would make one wonder why Malaysia replaced the AUG with the M4 in its armed forces in 2006 though.

One thing I don't know about the AUG is in its operation. Does it direct the gas back into the action during firing like an AR15 or does it have a ''clean'' system like the G36.

G36 style gas chamber. That's why it's less prone to jamming and works better in arid or harsh environs than any M-series rifle.

Malaysia changed for the same reason every army would consider changing. Price. All armies have guns supplied by the lowest bidder.

The AUG is fugly, I mean Roseanne Fugly.

G36C is really the only way to go here, unless you like being laughed at that is :p

    ....Aug is so ugly....

    Beat me to it,

The AUG is not a cheap rifle for an Army to use. If Ireland had a force as big as some of the other Armys then i think the IRISH would do a rethink, But as it stands the IRISH are lucky to be using this fine rifle, I will agree it is fugly but every time you point and fire it at your target it will work 99.9999999999% or the time, Not like the M-series.

In nam soilders would be in feet or the target, point and pull but no BANG the US Army never gave an official number of soilders to die because the rifle would not fire,

Anyways The G36 is great kit aswell, Its german enough said :D

    Master of the Universe

Remember, you're helping the OP pick an airsoft rifle, not real steel.

    Voted JG G36C myself.

gatling might be getting one aswell., the quality in them is top notch and the gearboxes are very nicely done,., before long i see myself getting the whole G&G range.,lol

As for G36 Vs M4 Vs Steyr AUG,

G36c = looks great, good ROF, Good Range, Nicely balanced
M4 = bucketloads of parts and acessories available, comfortable to use, ROF and range maybe not as good as the G36 but still very decent
Steyr AUG = Hmmm, lemme think., well, long barrel so i suppose that has to count for something huh., no better in performance than the other 2 but ya have to live with an ugly gun., nuff said.,:D

I personally love Augs but if you were getting one I'd get a CA to do it justice.

But, unbiasedly, the poll says it all and I'd have to agree, I voted 36. Infallible, even if you have to put a screw in the foregrip. (a guy lost the pin:P)

Not that the others are bad but you defenitly wont regret the G36c

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭Alvin T. Grey

Depends what you want. If you want bling? Go for the M4. But plan to spend a lot of time in the safe zone. If you want to score hits? Get the G-36.

    If you want both......

The G36c is the way to go. No questions asked.

Plus it looks so much better than an m4.
