on the main fornt page of afl.com.au, there is a square on the right sponsered by Carlton Draught (mmmm, Carlton Draught, made from beer as they say- sorry going off topic!)

anyway, this is the gameday live section. Click on the game you want (Carlton or Geelong games right now) A new window opens up and on the top left, there are 5 radio stations to select, Krock, 5AA, 3MMM, ABC, SEN. For the Geelong game, its pre game build up, as there is 6 mins to kick off. This new window will also have the mapped out thing that afl.com.au does where it indicates where the ball is etc. this is in the section on the right of the gameday live page. You can also change games from here on the top bar menu. Its a good section where by it shows the teams and maps out goals and all sorts.

Can't believe Richmond beat Carlton. Richo is some legend.

P.S. How come you got your 'thanks' back Des?!

Geelong beat Port Adelaide, and it was close in the end.

    14.12. 96
    15.15 105

    So a nine point win.

Have to say, I really enjoyed the Triple M radio coverage:)

yeah sounded very close at the end alright. recorded it on sky+ so will forward through it later on. Geelong seemed to be strolling away with it but Storm came right back at them. Radio coverage is generally fairly good, the guys really get excited watching it and shout and roar to really get an atmosphere going. lads in work were wondering what the hell I was listening to.

Go the Tigers! Can't believe they beat Carlton. Didn't see the game, just saw the result - how'd they play?

    West Coast 6.2 7.5 10.7 14.8 (92)
    Brisbane Lions 1.2 4.4 9.6 11.10 (76)

Well talk about making hard work of things. Up by 5 goals at quarter time the Eagles completely took the foot off the gas and allowed trhe Lions back into the game. Jonathan Brown was superb, scoring six against Darren Glass. Not an easy thing to do.

For the Eagles, Dean Cox put in a sensational performance in the ruck while Daniel Kerr was his usual busy self in midfield. Surprising performance of the day came from Beau Waters who kicked two early goals and did a lot of roving work. Got his usual busted nose for his troubles!

Shaky start to the season but it's a win on the board.

Buddy Franklin had a stormer today to join Jonathan Brown on 6 goals as the Hawks destroyed Melbourne by nearly 100 points.

And it was bloody great to watch. Some great youngsters at the Hawks this year. And Stuart Dew looks like a worthwhile acquisition too.

The D's were shockingly bad though. Early wooden spoon tip I reckon.

Some comeback from the Bombers today. Everyone told me I was mad for tipping them against the Roos but they did me proud. Pity about the loss of Lucas but Lloyd again showed his class.

6 out of 8 tips correct for me this week. Happy with that.

    Round 1 - Results

It might be useful to always include all the results from a round in a single post in the round thread:

    POR 96 GEE 105
    COL 111 FRE 85
    WCE 92 BL 76
    STK 51 SYD 49
    WB 126 ADE 123
    HAW 154 MEL 50
    ROO 67 ESS 122

No major surprises I thought in Round 1 results.

Carlton were neck and neck with Richmond until the 3rd quarter, but faded badly in the last. Setanta O'hAilipin got a goal.

Geelong made a slow but a winning start to their campaign.

Collingwood brushed aside Freemantle with a young team. I'm not sure if Marty Clarke played, he wasnt noted as one of their best according to reports.

West Coast get underway, Kilda scraped past Sydney in a poor match, Bulldogs and Adelaide played probably the match of the round with Bulldogs nicking it, and Hawthorn and Essendon easily won their games. It remains to be seen whether Essendon can create any type of consistency, as they had some big wins last season too to no avail.
