right to sue for cycling injury

Does anyone know if I have the right to sue for a cycling injury that occurred a year ago?

I was knocked off my bike last March and the driver was in the wrong. He was a cyclist himself and a really nice guy who paid for my doctors bills and any medication I needed. I didn't want to sue back then for certain reasons, I just didn't think anything of it. The doctor said the feeling in my leg would come back in time and that it was just a haematoma. Things have now changed however. I still have no feeling in a large portion of my lower right leg and the doctor said if the feeling hasn't come back then my nerves are permanently damaged. It doesn't actually affect anything at the moment, just feels really strange. I'm just worried that in years to come there might be serious implications and then it will be way too late to do anything about it.

My question is, is it worth going to a solicitor to try and sue this guy? Has anyone had any similar things happen to them? The accident was not reported to the police- does this affect anything? And does it matter that this happened a year ago, is that too late?

    Any info appreciated!

    Thanks :)

As much as I sympathise with your predicament Beks, in conjunction with the forum charter you're not allowed seek legal advice here. I would however, advise you to contact a solicitor for some thorough advice and wouldn't leave it too much longer.
