Warning for revellers participating in water sports

Irish Water Safety is urging people not to mix drinking with water sports or activities this St Patrick's weekend.

Alcohol is a factor in one third of all drownings - and there is an average of three drownings every St Patrick's weekend.

It is also calling on the public to take responsibility for themselves and take precautions when out on the seas, rivers or lakes.

Spokesman Roger Sweeney wants people to enjoy themselves, but says safety is paramount and says people should exercise some common sense.

    Know your limits.

    You have been warned.
'Water sports' is a slang term for sexual acts involving urination! RLY!!!

Very interesting statistic that 1 in 3 drowning is due to drink..
Im rather suprised at the %

I believe that the "dont swim for a few hours after eating" is a Myth, but im open for correctionon that.

    psot it wherever you like,
its still just a tad patronising coming from the head of the anti drinking group on boards.

you see, this is why non-drinkers are never taken seriously,
is your agenda to save peoples lives or remind us that your not going to die becasue you dont drink?

I think hes trying to point out that a few members here like to point out how they don't drink everytime there is a topic related to alcohol.

So, no drinking and playing with wii? That's the only time that thing is fun.

So, you're less likely to drown if you drink on paddys day?

What about looking for coins down Mario's pipe?

or grabbing the top of his flagpole to get a "bonus"

A friend of mine used to think that a golden shower was when you had a bit of rumpy-pumpy in the shower with your boyfriend. It was only when her boyfriend of the time repeatedly flat-out rejected her requests for one that she twigged it was something else.

    Aha.
