Renewing Library Books Online

There's a book I have out from the (Hamilton) Library which I pretty much need for the rest of the year, and thus I've been renewing it online every week(Every time I get one of those "A gentle reminder from the library" emails). Now, the second last time after I renewed it, when viewing the book on the item list it said "No further OPAC renewals allowed" under "Status/Action Date". It still says this, but I was able to renew it online no problem the other day. I checked the rules of the library and it seems I'm only supposed to be allowed renew it 8 times, but I looked at the amount of reminder emails I've gotten and it seems I've renewed it 11 times...

Should I be able to keep on renewing it online or is this a bug in the system that's allowing me to keep on renewing it? I don't wanna get hit by a fine for not bringing it back. I'd just drop into the library and ask, but being off for easter I'm not planning on going into Trinity for the next 2 weeks.

Its a systems bug. It doesn't apply if someone puts a hold on the book though, so if you want to be sure to have the book come exam time I suggest you purchase it. Out of interest what book is it?

When you say it's a systms bug do you mean that I can renew it for as long as I like as long as someone else doesn't puts a hold on the book without getting fined?

The book is Data Communications and Networking by Behrouz A. Forouzan. I'm not too concerned about someone putting a hold on it or it not being available come exam time as there are 25+ copies in the Library, only 4 or 5 of which are currently on loan. I know more people will take it out closer to exams, but I reckon I'll be able to get a copy easily enough.

I was keeping quiet about this as it came up last year and was stopped pretty sharpish once someone pointed out. I've been renewing the same two books for ages now, as much because I'm too lazy to carry them back to the library as because I've been using them, oh well :)
